Most of us do not think so much of our oral health until we get a problem. Fortunately, there is actually a simple everyday nip that helps you avoid the problems before they appear. By eating and cleaning your teeth properly, you prevent the most common dental problems, which usually get worse over the years, and increase your chances of a healthy mouth life.

1. Dental floss

Most people are good at brushing the teeth and doing it twice a day, keeping the visible parts of the teeth clean. The problems often arise between the teeth where we get rid of the cleaning. Using dental floss daily reduces not only the risk of a hole in the teeth, it is also an effective way to remove plaques that could otherwise cause inflammation in the gum and lead to dental loss, a disease affecting each other over 50.

2. Regular dentist visits

There are not many who go to the dentist for pleasure and often you go there first when you have problems with your teeth. It is even better to go to the dentist and dental hygienist to avoid the problems rather than remedy them. An annual visit to dentists and dental hygienists will help keep your teeth clean, even in places where you have managed to reach. In addition, dental care helps you discover the problems in time, before you start suffering from them and before they require expensive surgery. Going to the dentist can save you both money and suffering.

3. Eat the right food

The food affects your whole health and the teeth are of course no exception. Sugar is, for example, the favorite food for the bacteria of the mouth and when they break down the sugar, an acid in the mouth forms which damages the enamel and causes a hole in the teeth. Sweet and sour drinks like soft drinks and juice are extraordinary because the acid in the drink itself also gathers on the teeth. Combining acidic foods with, for example, milk products containing calcium helps neutralize the harmful acids. Even our saliva neutralizes the acid and therefore it is good to eat food that must be chewed properly as it increases saliva production.

4. Eat properly

In order for your saliva to have a chance to neutralize the acid that nourishes the teeth, it takes time to work. Therefore, it should be avoided that you eat small amounts of sugar because it starts acid production and does not give your mouth time to recover. Trying to eat regularly and only on three occasions a day is therefore good for your dental health. You can also chew sugar-free chewing gum after the meal to help saliva production and accelerate the neutralization of acids.

5. Stop smoking and snuffing

Snuff and cigarettes affect your mouth in a number of ways. The first many signs are that the teeth are discolored and the breath is getting worse. In addition, studies have shown a clear link between tobacco and cancer in the oral cavity. Both cigarettes and snus also have a negative effect on the gum. For example, smokers run three to five times the risk of dental loss.
